Overview

Social work is a professional and academic discipline that describes the application of social theory and research methods to study and improve the lives of people, groups, and societies. It incorporates and utilizes other social sciences as a means to improve the human condition and positively change society’s response to chronic problems. The programme deals with the fundamental knowledge of power and resources distributed in the world, and impact political decisions on societies. The purpose of the programme is to assist students to develop knowledge and skills for professional careers in international policy studies. The curriculum for Master of Social Work is also structured such that the students from social science, arts and humanities department from Lincoln University College and from outside of the Lincoln University College could enroll in the program to enrich their capacity in this particular field in order to broaden their sphere of opportunities in the marketplace.

DURATION

This program is designed to be delivered over 12 - 24  months on full time study mode, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part time and distance learning education mode from Lincoln College. The qualification is delivered face-to-face through lectures, tutorials, seminars, presentations by approved study centers only.

 

WHAT IT INCLUDES

* Assessors will support the students throughout the course of the Master of Social Work.
* A formative assessment and feedback will be provided to improve the learners’ achievements as per being part of Lincoln University.
* Course materials will also include lecture notes, case studies, and presentations where the students can apply their knowledge and show their skills as well.
* We also provide books for references and other study materials.
* Supervision is available for all the modules.
* Customized student portal access to every registered student which features 600+ hours of E-learning on their chosen area of specialization or electives through the online learning platform which has multiplatform accessibility, it delivers any of the course straight to the student’s smartphone, or tablet, laptop, or desktop through which will be enabled for them to study at their own convenience.

ASSESSMENT AND VERIFICATION

  • All units within this qualification of Social work are internally accessed by the centre and externally verified. The qualifications are criterion referenced based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
  • To achieve a ‘pass’, ‘merit’, and ‘distinction’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor. The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgment of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.
